      Description

      Product AC683

Primary Use: Ideal for mounting signs, wire clips, moldings, reflectors, molded and extruded plastics, hardware, and more. AC683 offers moderate tack, excellent shear strength, and adhesion to most surfaces.

Description: AC683 is a white closed-cell, cross-linked polyethylene foam with a density of 4lb + 6lb, coated on both sides with synthetic rubber adhesive.

Liner: 60# standard silicone-treated Densified Kraft.

      Typical Physical Properties:

      • Thickness Liner (nominal): 3.5 mils for all products.
      • Peel Adhesion: 160 oz/in (cohesive) based on PSTC #101 with adhesives coated directly to 1 mil polyester film. Note: Peel tests are performed as per PSTC #101, which states one minute maximum dwell time. Longer residence time generally yields higher peel values for acrylic adhesives.
      • Shear Adhesion: PSTC #107; Modified, 1000 gm/sq in @ 72°F, no dwell. Exposed side and liner side both show no creep for 14+ days.

      Product Features:

      • Low Cost: Economical solution.
      • Gap Filling: Foam carrier facilitates bonding to irregular surfaces.
      • Excellent Shear Strength: Provides strong adhesion.
      • Closed Cell Foam: Does not absorb water.
      • Easy Die-Cutting: Foam easily die-cuts with clean edges.

Service Temperature: 30°F to 150°F. Note: This data is based on limited testing and under no load. Practical service temperature depends on various factors, including substrates, environmental conditions, and application method. Recommended application temperature is 68°F to 100°F.

      Notes:

      • Surfaces to be bonded should be dry, clean, and free from grease and oil.
      • Not suitable for lamination to materials containing migrating plasticizers.

Shelf Life: Six months from date of shipment when stored under cool, dry conditions.
