This is the Original Nagoya NA-701 Dual Band High Gain Antenna, Dual Band High Gain Antenna.
Every Nagoya Antenna is individually tested and tuned for the supported frequency range it was made for.
The NA-701 is tuned to the amateur frequencies of 144/430MHz
This is the recommended UHF Antenna as it is dramatically more efficient than the NA-771 on UHF. It also performs extremely well for its length on VHF as well (better than a stock antenna).

In most cases: the longer the antenna is the better the antenna is capable of boosting weak frequencies and receiving difficult-to-hear stations. Shorter antennas offer more portability and convenience, while longer antennas perform better.
